IVF Lab

A private Life Science group engaged us to re-imagine their flagship location for showcasing the world’s first and only automated robotic platform for the safe management and care of the frozen eggs and embryos used in IVF. Their mission is “to safeguard the world’s most precious cells of life. The group provides unprecedented levels of safety and security.” The concept for this flagship location centers around a series of linked program elements that engage the visitor from the moment they enter the space. Beginning at the waiting area, guests are invited on a journey to learn more about the life science IVF laboratory environment. A sinuous curved wall that extends from the entry vestibule helps to define the IVF Museum, display presentation area, and the general repository volume. Within the thickness of the curved wall, display cases are embedded into the wall, allowing visitors to experience the history of IVF.

A display presentation area on the other side of the wall provides a place for demonstrations and lectures. Moving past the IVF Museum and display presentation area, the visitor travels up a slight ramp and pathway encircling the general repository volume where the automated robotic storage units are stored. The concave glass volume protects the storage environment while allowing the visitor a view into the new work of automated embryo storage. Embryo and liquid nitrogen delivery area are provided, with back of house storage and loading areas. Within the general repository volume, areas for accessioning, shipping and receiving are carefully calibrated.
